QUEEN URGED TO RAISE PLIGHT OF JAILED BRITONS

British pressure groups are urging Queen Elizabeth II to highlight the increasing number of UK businessmen detained in the United Arab Emirates as she embarks on her first state visit to the federation since 1979.

Fair Trials International and Prisoners Abroad wrote to raise concerns about British investors who have fallen victim to the economic downturn, especially in Dubai, which has been hard hit by a real estate crash and is starting to recover from recession only after restructuring $25bn in debts.
