Joy at Jody Aggett’s acquittal after 6 years in Thailand, 2 on death row

September 04 2007

The family and supporters of Swindon man Jody Aggett, 30, are celebrating today at the news his conviction and life sentence for drug trafficking in Thailand have been overturned.

The charity Fair Trials Abroad worked with Jody in preparing the appeal against his unsafe conviction, and was overjoyed to hear the court had approved his immediate release.

“The case against Jody would never stand up to proper scrutiny, though it has been difficult securing a date for his appeal to be heard,” said FTA Chief Executive Catherine Wolthuizen.
