Working for a world where every person's right to a fair trial is respected, whatever their nationality, wherever they are accused
Useful Information
Since 1992 Fair Trials International has worked to defend the fair trial rights of people arrested outside their own country. We provide advice and information to people arrested outside their own country and do not charge for any of the advice assistance that we provide.
By clicking on the links below you can download a range of materials produced by Fair Trials International, including notes of advice on criminal procedure and defence rights in a range of different countries as well as notes on specific issues facing people arrested outside their own country. By visiting the Frequently Asked Questions page, you can access straightforward practical answers to the questions we are most frequently asked by people arrested abroad and by their friends and relatives at home. Some of these materials are available in languages other than English.
This is not a substitute for legal advice and, because every case is different and legal systems around the world vary so much, we cannot guarantee that the answers will be applicable to your own case. For advice about your own situation, you should talk to a lawyer qualified in the jurisdiction where you are being prosecuted.
