Need Help?
You are facing a criminal investigation or charges or believe you have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice:
FTI works all over the world and with clients of any nationality. If you are facing a criminal investigation or charges outside your home country, or believe you have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice, we may be able to help you. We are not able to help with cases in your home country.
Sadly, FTI is unable to assist in every case. When deciding which cases we take on, we look at the severity of the alleged miscarriage of justice and the particular vulnerability of the defendant. We also carefully assess how effective our intervention could be. As we receive a large volume of requests, our decision on whether we will be able to offer any assistance must be based primarily on the information in the questionnaire. For this reason it is very important to include as much detail as possible in your answers. If we are unable to take your case on, we will do our best to refer you to someone who can.
Each case is different and, where we do take on a case, we will decide what kind of help we can offer. FTI does not charge clients for the unique service that we provide. The assistance we can provide is, however, limited. We cannot, for example, provide financial assistance with your case, provide domestic legal advice or act as your solicitor. Read more information about the kind of help that FTI can and cannot provide.
If you would like to request assistance from FTI, please get in touch with us by sending us the completed and signed Questionnaire, via email (with your scanned in signature), fax or post.
We aim to provide a response to all requests within six weeks of receipt of a signed questionnaire. Due to the large number of calls, we may not always respond as quickly as we would like to.
Arrested Abroad?
Arrested Abroad Leaflet
This document draws on Fair Trials International’s long experience of working on these cases. It gives straightforward practical answers to the questions we are most frequently asked by people arrested abroad and by their friends and relatives at home. It provides guidance on:
- Do’s and Don’ts after arrest;
- How to get local legal advice and how to get the best out of your lawyer;
- How to get support from other sources, such as political representatives, charities like Fair Trials International and consular staff in the country of arrest.
