Victory for FTI in the European Court of Human Rights
May 15 2008The European Court of Human Rights judges held today that convention rights of an FTI client had been violated.
FTI is delighted that one of its clients has won his case in Strasbourg. Despite having been acquitted of the charges against him by the Eidsivating High Court in Norway, Mr. Orr was ordered by the Court in the same judgment to pay compensation to his alleged ‘victim’. In a majority judgment the ECtHR held today that this violated Mr Orr’s rights under Art 6 § 2 of the Convention.
FTI would like to pay tribute to Faisal Saifee from Thomas Moore Chambers who drafted the application on our behalf.
