
Update on Yasemin Vatansever and Yetunde Diya case in Ghana
July 18 2007Yasemin and Yetunde today appeared at a youth court in Accra before one magistrate and two further panel members who are social workers. They were provisionally charged for attempting to transport narcotics without the authorization of the relevant authorities.
However contrary to reports, the girls did not enter a plea as they were not required to do so on this occasion.
The next hearing will be on Thursday 26th July 2007 before the same court. The girls will then be formally charged, and expected to enter their plea for the trial to start immediately.
Yasmin and Yetunde’s families and legal teams in both Ghana and the UK are working together to prepare their defence.
