Working for a world where every person's right to a fair trial is respected, whatever their nationality, wherever they are accused
Justice in Europe
At Fair Trials International we believe that respect for fundamental rights and the rule of law should be at the heart of European justice policy.
Europe must cooperate to fight serious crime but this must not be at the expense of our basic rights and freedoms. Europe should work together to improve basic fair trial rights - not undermine them.
Drawing on the real-life examples of injustice that we encounter at Fair Trials International, we are campaigning for Justice in Europe, including reform of Europe’s fast-track extradition regime: the European Arrest Warrant.
Following in-depth scrutiny of EU cooperation measures, we campaign to ensure basic rights are respected. Alongside this, we support European efforts to protect basic defence rights, the necessary building blocks of the mutual trust that underlies European cooperation.

- Interpol Cross-border crime is a grim reality and police must cooperate across borders to tackle it. But, at Fair Trials International, we believe that no one should be above the law: not the international criminal, not the international crime-fighter.
